Popular On Facebook: Baur Now Has Over 50,000 Fans

About two years ago Baur launched its fanpage on Facebook. Now it has passed the 50,000-fan mark. Thus, it is one of the most popular fanpages for e-commerce companies in Germany.

“I’m very excited about this proof of our popularity! After all, every individual fan is praise for our day-to-day operations,” says J rg of Baur’s Facebook team. The 38-year-old has supervised the fanpage for about 1.5 years. In particular, his job is to communicate with fans and to internally coordinate fan concerns: said concerns are very broad and deal with such subjects as competitions, special promotions, the presentation of the range of products, and customer complaints. J rg is always keen not just to quickly send a first response, but also to efficiently find a solution to their complaints. In this regard, the fact that he has been working at Baur for about 21 years and is thus well connected in the company really pays off.

Special promotions and competitions are very important in terms of gaining customer committment. They are fun for the fans, connect the fans to the Baur fanpage and also encourage them to tell their private circles about the Baur fanpage. Last year Baur launched multiple exciting special promotions and competitions on Facebook: for example, a MahJong game or a happy hour during which the Baur fans received an exclusive 20% discount on the entire range of products. The make-over contest was particularly popular: In December 2011 a customer won a complete make-over with a professional photo shoot and a new outfit valued at over 1,000 Euro. In honour of having passed the 50,000-fan mark, a shopping voucher with a value of 50,000 cents is currently being raffled off at http://de-de.facebook.com/BAUR.

For about six months Baur has also been one of the first commercial enterprises to have a Facebook shop: To shop comfortably on Facebook, Baur fans just have to click the “Online Shop” button on Baur’s Facebook page. Said shop has about 20,000 products and in terms of its visual presentation is heavily based on the online shop at http://www.baur.de, thereby guaranteeing a high recognition effect.

J rg of Baur’s Facebook team loves his job: “Attractive competitions and the support of our fans make my job a lot of fun! The more blood and sweat I put into my job, the more satisfied the fans are and that makes me happy!”
